The Charity Shop
A downloadable game for Windows
Inevitably, life has delivered you to The Charity Shop.
With your camera, attempt to immortalise the remnants of lives past.
The Charity Shop is an atmospheric, surreal, first-person adventure game where you must use your camera to capture the essence of a life lived. To this end, you have been delivered before The Charity Shop, the place where people donate unwanted belongings—each carrying an imprint of the time they once shared.
Clutch at permanence.
Kick your feet against the rising tide.
When your head is under, it will be over.
"Everything here is in a state of flux—the negative space between owners. From one owner to the next, we're here to help pass the baton."
"People always have things to donate—whether the owners have outlived their belongings, or their belongings have outlived them, we're always getting different things."
Content Warning
The Charity Shop contains many references and allusions to death, as well as a scene depicting a serious car accident.

Interesting! Simple, overall easy puzzles. I think I might have largely guessed my way through the steam/pipe area. I am very thankful that the worlds did not reset upon leaving and so low requirements to backtrack and get missing photos. I did like the shopkeep being just a blue silhouette, and the dialogue between us was great.
This great game and interesting puzzle
I really liked this game! So surreal and dream-like. I loved how almost retro it is, the way you enter the worlds! I also loved the delivery of the theme of entropy.
Really liked this! Photographs and associated memories seems to be a topic I find myself thinking on a lot, so I enjoyed how that was handled and talked about in this. The time of day puzzles and effects were probably my favourite part.
I'd agree that the "mug-zone" was a bit confusing in parts but I made it through. The rest of the puzzles felt very intuitive though, and the sounds/music in general I think added a lot!
Thank you so much for playing and I really appreciate the feedback :)
Fantastic game, incredibly atmospheric. However I am stuck near the end of the mug zone. I'm not able to jump onto the box? My character cant seem to jump high enough. I've tried tweaking settings and nothing seems to work. Loved it anyway.
Thanks for playing! That box needs a crouch jump :) I’ll tweak it to not need that as a couple of people have gotten stuck there
Some heavy thoughts left with me after playing, but also many hopeful thoughts as well. In some strange way, knowing something wont last helps make it worth it even more.
Feedback on the game itself, the Grandpa Mug Zone was pretty confusing at first. I got some of it figured out but by the time I realized how everything worked I sort of just oopsed myself into the right answer, and felt like I still missed something. Was nearly ready to restart the game just to make sure I did everything "correctly". I think it has some cool bits of spatial logic to work through but I felt overwhelmed.
Overall I liked this a lot and the themes and messaging are definitely the strongest. The game mechanic most used by the Toy Car Zone is a very simple but incredibly strong thematically, ludonarrative off the charts there. Thank you for making this! It was well worth the time, and the memories it's passed onto me.
Thank you so much for playing! I really appreciate the feedback. Totally agree re: the mug zone, it turned out a lot more confusing than I anticipated - I have a number of ideas for streamlining it that will make their way into the full version of the game :)
Hi, are you interested in an Italian or Japanese localization?
I'd help for free since I am trying to get experience in the field! 😊
Hi there - thank you and I really appreciate the offer, but I wouldn't want anyone to do work for free and I don't currently have the resources to pay translators - sorry!

Hi there! I apologise but I don't currently have the resources to translate the game into Korean
If you have the original text, I can help you with the translation. Can't I?
I appreciate the offer, but I wouldn't want someone to do this work for free and I currently don't have the resources to pay any translators - sorry!
